Many of our favourite walks in the area entered on, or started from Domeyrat All featured its lovely castle, now sadly closed to the public, though it was only ever open in July and August.
I’ve never ventured off the Brioude-le Puy road to look at this and I can see I should. When I think of the number of times I have driven so close I feel quite ashamed! Wonderful pictures … it’s quite the place.
Like so much of this part of France it’s beautiful and very quiet. In the UK it would be a popular day trip, but the French seem not to do this much. See also Brioude, Lavaudieu, Blesle, etc etc, outside of July and August, tumbleweed!
Beautiful! I suspect the castle was quite difficult to appreciate from within wasn’t it?, Outside it seems to offer pretty good views.

Bizarrely we never visited the inside! By the time we thought we must do this, it had permanently closed.

Yup …. exactly the same in Cantal. Which is part of the reason I love it, I guess.
